6 Tips To Stop Hair Damage Immediately

In our quest for beautiful hair, we often do things that damage our hair. Damaged hair is fragile, so it tends to break. Hair breakage can leave us with frizzy, unhealthy-looking hair. If we continue to damage our hair, we may eventually see thinning hair or even bald spots.

The good news is that simple changes can prevent further hair damage. On this page, you’ll find 10 common hair-care practices that can damage hair and dermatologists’ tips that can help you to stop damaging your hair.

Rubbing Shampoo Into The Length Of The Hair

Gently massage shampoo into your scalp. When you rinse the shampoo from your scalp, let it flow through the length of your hair and resist the temptation to rub it into your hair. If you have applied oil to the whole length of your hair, then just gently massage the length in soft strokes.

Skipping The Conditioner

Using a good quality conditioner after every shampoo is important. Conditioning the hair restores the oils in the hair and makes it soft and silky. Usually after you shampoo your hair, it’s soaking wet, making it hard for the conditioner to stay on. Instead gently squeeze all the excess water out of your hair before you begin applying the conditioner, and then leave it on for about 2-3 minutes, to see the conditioner work its magic in your hair.

Rubbing Your Hair Dry With A Towel

Instead of vigorously rubbing your hair to dry it, wrap your hair in a towel to absorb the water. Let your hair air dry.

Brushing Your Hair While It's Still Wet

Never brush your hair while its still wet. This leads to a lot of hair breakage since the hair is most vulnerable. I have been using L'Oreal Professionnel XTenso Care Serum to tone down the fizz and minimise the breakage. Let it air dry atleast 50% and then use a wide-tooth comb to start off with.

Using Styling Tools & Products

Regularly using a blow dryer does contribute to hair damage. Let your hair air dry when possible. In case you need to use it, use the lowest heat setting. Limit the time you apply heat to your hair via a hair dryer or straightner or curler. Using styling products such as long hold hair spray, mousse or gels also damages the hair. Restrict the use of these tools and products only for special occasions or need basis.

Colouring, Perming, or Relaxing Your Hair

Dying your hair can cause hair damage. Try to add more time between touch-ups, especially when the air is dry. In the winter, try to stretch the time between touch-ups to every 8 to 10 weeks or longer.

All these tips will just help to stop you from damaging your hair. But the damage thats been done needs to be fixed. You need to follow a very good hair care routine to bring back the life into the hair. This post on How To Control Hair Fall - Tips And Homemade Remedies covers many other aspects of hair care.

(Hint: It's as easy as it gets!) Guess What? There's No Pumpkin in Pumpkin Spice! For years, I thought pumpkin pie spice actually had pumpkin in it. Silly me. How on earth would you get pumpkin in there? Dehydrate and powder it? In any case, pumpkin pie spice is simply a blend of the traditional spices that go into a good ol' fashioned pumpkin pie. What's in Pumpkin Pie Spice? If you go the store-bought route, pumpkin pie spice blends can vary by manufacturer, but typically contain the more sweet-smelling spices, like cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and ginger. Allspice and mace are also common ingredients. Why Should ...

Low Calorie No-Bake Chocolate Cheesecake

As the post title suggests, Low Calorie No-Bake Chocolate Cheesecake, you must be wondering, if there is chocolate and its a cheesecake, how could it be low calorie - well, its not really low calorie, but it would be definitely lower than an actual "cheesecake" :) This cheesecake is a fast track recipe which can be thrown in within a few minutes. I don't follow the classic baked cheesecake method. I've tried earlier and failed. But later I came across the no-bake cheesecake recipe and that became the base for all kinds of cheesecakes that I have prepared earlier. Coming to the ingredients, I don't use cream cheese which is the base for any cheesecake, because, firstly, its very high in calories and secondly its very not easily available here. So see we saved some calories there, with a little price paid on the taste. However, I can bet most people won't be able to make out the difference whether there is cream cheese or something else. I'm preparing...
